About Me

Hi there! I’m Heidi Dietrich, a proud native Houstonian with a love for life, a deep love for family, and an ever-growing collection of photos, videos, and memories I can’t seem to let go of—can you relate?

By day, I’m a wife, mom of two, daughter, sister, and Broker at Parkway Insurance Group, Inc. and Dietrich Properties. My family is my heartbeat, and I’ve built my life and career around strong relationships, trust, and community. While I consider myself a traditionalist at heart, I’ve always embraced technology, especially when it helps me stay connected and preserve what matters most.

I created Heidi in Houston as a space to reflect, share, and most importantly, document the moments that matter. Growing up, we had photo albums you could hold, flip through, and revisit anytime. These days, everything lives on phones and hard drives, and it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the digital clutter.

Sometimes my kids will go back and watch old videos I shared when they were younger, and it’s such a sweet reminder of why these memories are worth keeping. That’s what inspired this blog: a place to curate the highlights, tell the stories, and eventually turn them into printed keepsakes they’ll cherish.

Truthfully, it’s a challenge; thousands of photos and videos pile up every month. But writing helps me pause, reflect, and pick the ones that tell the story best. This space keeps me accountable, creative, and focused on what’s worth saving.

As a real estate broker, I’ve helped many families during moves, and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen boxes, binders, and bins filled with years of memories… that their kids didn’t want. After all that saving, organizing, and holding on, they left it behind. That hit me.

So I’ve set out to do things differently. With help from my family, I’m sorting, selecting, and purging with purpose. The goal? To create three printed digital albums, one for each of my kids, that capture our shared history, their childhood, and the memories that made us who we are. And this blog? It’s the living journal that helps me get there.

Along the way, you’ll also find reflections on the things I love, good food, music that makes you dance, beautiful books, photography, travel, and the magic of everyday life. I believe in living fully, embracing both joy and adversity, and seeking to walk in God’s will every step of the way.

Thanks for being here. Whether you’re a fellow Houstonian, near or far, a memory keeper like me, or just stopping by for a little inspiration, I’m so glad you found your way to Heidi in Houston.

With love,
Heidi
